Servers handle death in different ways. Surviving longer on a hardcore server

Hardcore rewards patience more than speed. These habits keep experienced players alive:

• Never mine straight down and always check what is below before digging or jumping.
• Carry a water bucket for falls, lava and fire, and practise using it before you need it.
• Eat before your hunger bar drops, so natural regeneration keeps working.
• Upgrade to full iron armour and a shield before your first trip into caves or the Nether.
• Avoid fighting while lagging and log off somewhere enclosed and lit.
