26.1–26.3Minecraft Earth servers place players on a scaled-down recreation of the real planet, with continents, mountain ranges, rivers and coastlines generated from real elevation data. Instead of a random seed, you spawn somewhere on a recognisable globe and can travel from one region to another in the same way you would trace a route on an atlas. Depending on the scale, crossing an ocean may take a few minutes or a long expedition by boat.
Most Earth servers combine the map with a town and nation system, so geography becomes strategy. Groups race to claim fertile plains, strategic straits or historically important regions, then negotiate borders, form alliances and sometimes go to war over territory. Others focus on peaceful exploration and building. The mode suits players who enjoy geography, history and politics, and who want their settlements to sit somewhere that means something on a map.
What to check before joining
The scale of the map shapes almost everything. A 1:1000 world feels compact and crowded, while a larger scale offers more room per player but makes travel slow. Look for these details on the server page or its rules:
- The map scale and whether teleports, railways or fast travel exist to cover long distances.
- How territory is claimed, how much it costs and whether nations can declare war on each other.
- Rules on real-world flags, names and politics, which many servers restrict to keep things civil.
- Whether the Nether and End are available or replaced by custom resource worlds.
Picking a starting location
Popular regions fill up early, so a quieter area with good resources and access to the sea is often the smarter choice. Coastal towns are easier to supply, and neighbours who arrive later tend to become trading partners rather than rivals.
